It's only been about 2 months since the masters class and I'm still learning from VFA. The class was great, very comprehensive and Eric does a great job of getting you ready for this world and excited about it. I have my studio up and running. Courtney is a super teacher and has been so patient with my questions and concerns. I can't believe how much I know and have learned since then. I would be in tears if it weren't for VFA. They mean what they say when you have their support. It is money well spent. If you are thinking of becoming a voice over artist, don't do it without VFA!

VFA provided great instruction and workbook for the 3 day Masters Class. They also provide a page of resources and tips, including setting up a Pro Tools studio at home. I wished we had more time to hear ourselves recorded before we went in to record the professional demos, but there just wasn't enough time. The workshop was full of exercises and instructions. Even after the class was over, VFA will check back with you to see how things are going and provide a lot more advice and information when you are ready to hear it.

It's been almost a year since I attended the VFA Masters Class in Los Angeles with Eric Hunt. I look back and enjoy the time of instruction and interaction with my classmates. I want to encourage and remind everyone that this is a JOURNEY...not a path to instant overnight success! Keep that thought in mind as you embark on this adventure in your life. There will be bumps along the way...but with Andrea, Courtney and the rest of the VFA team, you will be in good hands! :)

SUCCESS UPDATE: I was speaking with an attorney, who was helping me with some legal issues, and told him I was working on getting voiceover work.  He said he knew the CEO of an agency in San Francisco and wrote an email introduction to her about me.   I then filed my headshot, VO demo and resume.  Was called to do an audition - which I felt I had blown, but apparently had not.  So don't judge yourself, we are usually our own worst critics!  Then called in last week for an interview and contract.

This agency was founded 25 years ago by an actress and now employees her son and daughter.  They have film and voice over studios in their offices.  They are a respected agency in the SF bay area.  I hope to get some acting and/or VO work with them and will keep you posted as to what I do land.  It is difficult to get picked up by any agency in the area so - it's all about relationships!!

My experience with my VFA class was wonderful.  I received more direction and guidance that I have in any other performance class I have taken.  Eric knew how to draw out of me the best that I could give with his patience and clear explicit instructions and guidance.  The taping of the demo was a great experience and best of all, FUN!  I am so glad I took this class and have greatly benefited from it.  I am looking forward to taking the character development class in the near future.  Please continue to keep giving classes and supporting us, Voices for All.

SUCCESS UPDATE: It's been an exciting year for me as I have launched my home voiceover recording services business.   After taking the VFA Masters Class this past summer, I started to lay the ground work for my home business.  I made some major acoustic improvements to my home studio, established a DBA, and launched my business website (link).  I have attended a few local Chamber of Commerce meetings where I have established a few promising connections who are interested in partering with me.  For example, someone who has a video production company, but often seeks voiceover talent to complement his video content. I also joined Voices.com and was awarded my first job.  It was a simple, corporate outgoing phone message.  I've been getting a lot of experience there with the audition process.

2011 was very foundational for me and I expect to grow this as we head into 2012.   Thanks to the VFA team for the support with this new phase of my life.

I've had a passion for Radio/TV and audio recording ever since I was old enough to hold a microphone. But for much of my life, it remained only a hobby of mine because I never knew how to make a go of it in the business. After attending the VFA intro class at a community college earlier this year, I was convinced that I had to take it one step further. So I enrolled in the VFA Masters class that was offered in Chicago this summer. It was an amazing experience! It was a fast-paced, challenging, and rewarding weekend. Eric Hunt was an amazing coach and he brought the best out of every member of the class. The in-class exercises were fun and invigorating and by the time the weekend was over, I was ready for the demo recording session. I was extremely happy with the end product of my demos. I feel like I have the tools, the support, and a solid foundation upon which to build my VO recording business. Thank you VFA!

SUCCESS UPDATE: My podcast is www.wellsaidvoiceover.com.  Just really playing with it right now, but plan on expanding soon.  I am getting ready to record a children's book and will soon be doing telephone messages for a new company the first of the year as well as many voiceover commercials for them.  Am really excited about the future and as I told you, I give you great credit for helping me get my studio up and running.  I really appreciate all you did for me.

I just recently completed the Master Voice Over class in Chicago, IL. Our instructor was Eric Hunt. It was INCREDIBLE! I am definitely a "newbie" so I was not sure what to expect. It was just sooo informational and the steps 1,2.3 on how to get into the Voice Over business. I am very excited to get started! I would recommend this class to anyone who is interested in diving into the Voice Over Business. The studo time to produce the demos was so interesting to see how the whole process works. You just have to experience it yourself to believe it. Come On In The Water Is FINE!

Wow! A great weekend! Eric Hunt was a phenomenal instructor and kept our interest all weekend. In addition, he is excellent at identifying students' strengths and coaching them up based on those strengths. He did a great job in directing my recording seesion, too. You'll get a strong start to your new career through the Master Class!

SO MUCH FUN!! Every gardener knows that when she is away for a weekend things grow at an accelerated pace. Well, this weekend was a wonderful growing experience for me. Eric Hunt was the water and sunshine, conveying his knowledge and experience in lively manner, and keeping all engaged. His suggestions and encouragement gave me the confidence to put the butterflies to flight and own my voice. VFA delivers the necessary tools and support. For anyone pursuing a career in voice acting I recommend the Voices For All Masters Class. Looking forward to a great harvest!

Voices for All was an amazing experience. I had to wait 3 years to partake in the intense workshop, but it was worth the wait and I don't regret any of it. You connect with the coaches and you can see that they really want you to succeed. My coach was Andrea and she was extremely passionate and patient-- very helpful, and Courtney, involved in operations, is the extra cushion for guidance. They will always be there for you and give you the support you need.

SUCCESS UPDATE: I recorded my first paying job yesterday.  What a rush!  It was an internal sales video for a company out of Chicago.  They sent me the script early and how I envisioned doing it was completely different from what they wanted.  I recorded it with a phone patch and it sure was odd, recording while their creative guy was talking in my ear - but, after editing, it sounded pretty good (at least that's what he told me).  Thank you for all your help - it sure got rid of some of the butterflies.  But the best part - My career's underway!

Taking the "Creating Characters" and "Audio Books" Advanced Classes earlier this month was one of the best investments I could have made for my voiceover career. Coaching by Leah and Eric was excellent, and I thought I had my money's worth before the first break. Not only were we provided with nuts and bolts information to make recording easier, both technically and artistically, they gave everyone in the classes individual help along with related resources I doubt most of us could find on our own. The advice we received was specific and realistic; the support unbelievable. One Master Class is an excellent beginning, but it's really just the beginning. I came home jazzed and more efficient in my recording. Can't wait to do more!

Don Lafontaine, please step aside! My voice acting hero is Eric Hunt. He comes straight out of the top drawer. In God’s creation I never could understand the talent portion. If talent were peanut butter, why couldn’t it be like Skippy that spreads evenly over all the “bread” so that each part gets a reasonable amount? Instead God’s distribution of talent is more like trying to spread the old fashioned kind that tends to clump up so that one portion of the bread receives all the peanut butter. It seems like Eric Hunt has received all the talent. Throughout the class we were able to appreciate the many sides of this humble and very real young man. He is an actor, voiceover artist and excellent communicator being able to command the attention of learners (some of us not so young) for many hours. But what makes him especially impressive is his dedication to his craft. He is thoroughly knowledgeable and fully equipped to teach and pass on to others who will pursue work in the voiceover industry and benefit from his wisdom and experience. I appreciated his encouragement, commendations, gentle corrections, and suggestions. He remained engaged and interested in each one of his students. I so appreciate the volume of work that he accomplished in the three short days we spent with him. I would also like to appreciate other kind and valuable members of the VFA staff: Bob Puthoff who initially ignited excitement during the introductory class, Sherrill Stewart who was so encouraging and empathetic (What a dear!), Casey Rose who understood my financial circumstances and arranged VFA compensation that would fit my budget (What a Godsend!) and finally, Courtney whom I have not spoken to but plan to make her my best friend since I need lots and lots of help. Hats off to all VFA staff!
